Synopsis: In Glasgow in the early 1950s, Joe, a young drifter, is engaged to work on a barge travelling between Glasgow and Edinburgh. One afternoon they discover the corpse of a young woman floating in the water. It becomes apparent during the police investigation that Joe knew the dead woman well.
